Grace Lutheran is a warm, growing congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. We are a welcoming, friendly congregation with a heart for reaching out to our community and the world with the love of Christ.
Led by the Holy Spirit and living in God's grace, Grace Lutheran Church is a community proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through love, learning, worship, and service.
Our mission is Grace by Grace, seeking to be God's faithful people. We'd love to have you visit us at our church on the hill!
You matter to God and us. Come grow with us!
Musical, DL Police Chief, Tim Eggebraaten is set to take the stage in the DL City Park, Tuesday, July 19th for a free concert and guess who will be serving dinner prior to the concert!? Volunteers from GRACE and Bakke will serve with the proceeds to benefit Habitat for Humanity. It is a free will offering so either come and relax in your favorite lawn chair or step up to help with the grilling. Should be fun!
How about some ice cream? We are planning an ice cream social with games and music on the front yard at Grace so we can invite our neighbors over on Wednesday, August 24th.
Our extremely popular Salad Luncheon is set for Friday, September 9th. Do I need to say more except, Guten Appetite! (and tell your friends, neighbors and relatives).
The Evangelism Committee will take the lead on that as we hope to encourage more families and individuals to get to know us and want to join our congregation when we host, Rally Sunday on Sunday, September 11th.
Sunday, September 18th Grace will partner with other local ELCA Lutheran churches for God’s Work…Our Hands worship service in the city park following by a big picnic and service projects. Grace will do their annual road ditch clean-up as the service project. (The worship service in the city park will take the place of our regular 10:00 A.M. service so watch for more information on the exact timing of this special event).
We have three confirmation students who are working hard on their stewardship this summer in order to be confirmed on Sunday, October 9th at Grace. We also have about ten younger students who will benefit from a partnership we will offer between Grace and Bakke with Pastor Ann as the lead instructor with parents and other volunteers assisting. The Education Committee will help work out details with Bakke.
The Annual Church Bazaar will be a separate event, possibly on Saturday, November 19th, coordinated by GLCW with church-wide membership encouraged to assist. Food is also a big draw at that event. Let’s face it, we have some great cooks!
And (drum roll) ... we will host a Vendor Show Saturday, December 10th, coordinated by Ruby Kiihn and Jennifer Bristlin. Grace volunteers will serve food but otherwise the vendors will sell items approved by the council. Vendors will pay a booth rental fee and greet the general public with their items.
